The two parts are unified by the vision of a tree - a primordial and shared experience - which is the starting point for the process of decomposition and then reassembly of sonic and visual constituents. The Robert Turner works are all created from a one image of a magnificent pohutukawa tree, native of New Zealand. Each work was built out of the same basic visual parts, yet recomposed in its own unique way. Colour, light, and relative importance of the building blocks were all adjusted to evoke different realities emerging from a single source.
